Alton, VA (August 22nd, 2014) On a weekend of epic proportions for TRG-AMR, Max Riddle and Kris Wilson have brought home the second GS-Class victory of 2014 for TRG-AMR this weekend, marking the fourth podium finish of the year for the Petaluma-based squad. Wilson outlasted and outdrove Robin Liddell by only three tenths of a second, making it one of the closest finishes this year in Continental Tire SportsCar Championship racing. Riddle started the race from the green flag and put in a clean stint until Wilson took control of the 07 Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT4 about midway through the 2.5 hour enduro. From there it was a matter of keeping it clean and quick, something Wilson is known for.
Max Riddle, TRG-AMR Team Driver, CTSCC GS: “Road America was a bit disappointing for a number of reason – we had gearbox issues early on and then the GTD car got taken out in practice. Even though I wasn’t driving in GTD, it’s still crushing to see a team car taken out like that. Today was a huge day of redemption – first the GTD car took the pole after the last minute rebuild effort, and Kris and I took the victory in our race. What a day! I’m looking forward to COTA later next month.”
Kris Wilson, TRG-AMR Team Driver, CTSCC GS: “What a day! After watching the amazing pile-to-pole effort by the GTD team, I was ready to make sure we did our absolute best to win this race. Max put in an amazing first stint – quick, clean, smooth driving – and I was able to take it home on. What a solid car. The tires were starting to fade a bit as
the race wore on between Robin (Liddell) and I, but that Aston stayed true. Thanks to Robin for the fun and clean racing, thanks to our GS team for giving us such a great car, and thanks to Max for handing the car over in good condition and position.
