(PETALUMA, CA – September 16) TRG-AMR North America driver Mark Klenin recently took his Aston Martin Vantage GT4 to Miller Motorsports Park to compete in the ST2 class of the NASA National Championship.  After a week of practice, qualifying, and heat races Klenin posted a tremendous third overall in the final Championship race.

The Colorado based Klenin came to Miller with a car that had not been raced in the ST2 class prior to this event.  Therefore, Klenin spent the early part of the week getting the Vantage GT4 up to pace in a class that was filled with Corvettes who have competed all year to the ST2 class specs.

Klenin finally got the Vantage into the 2.02 time range in the heat race.  This was quick enough to be the quickest time in his heat race around Miller.  This meant that for the Championship race, Klenin would grid near the front of the ST2 class field.  Klenin spent the entire event in a battle with four other ST2 drivers for third position.  After 45 minutes, Klenin battled his way to what he thought was a fourth place finish.  However, a compliance issue on another ST2 class car ahead of Klenin meant a podium with a third place result.

Klenin stated, “The week was pretty amazing for me.  We rolled off the transporter and initially I was more than five seconds off of the pace in my class.  However, as the practice sessions continued, I kept finding big chunks of time on track.  I think my Vantage GT4 was superior under braking and through the corners.  This advantage allowed me to work the car to its strengths as the week continued.  I had an awesome Championship race and after 45 minutes to get a podium made the week a success for me!  Thank you to everyone at TRG-AMR North America for the support and what a great car!”
