PETALUMA, CA (August 26, 2016): This weekend, the No. 66 Death to Lionfish/LaSalle Solutions/Adobe Road Winery Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo will have two races at the gorgeous VIRginia International Raceway. Drivers Joel Janco and Jonatan Jorge are partnering to compete in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America with TRG for the first time. Both men have years of experience in multiple racing series and platforms, and the team is excited to support them in the fastest one-make series on earth.

Janco drove the No. 66 in TRG’s most recent Super Trofeo race at Road America, where he was partnered with fellow Prototype Lites competitor, Gerry Kraut. It was the first time for the Janco/Kraut duo to race this car, and they achieved a 4th place finish in one of the double-header races. This weekend, Janco is joined by his coach, Jonatan Jorge, and the pair will compete in Rounds 7 and 8 of the series. Jorge is the founder of JJ Racing Development, which he launched after racing go karts professionally from 1991-2003, and was then followed by a stint in Formula Renault and British F3. In 2005, he returned to the US to form JJRD, which also includes a roster of coaches who work with young drivers in several junior series.

Janco relaxes in TRG’s oasis from the hot temperatures at Virginia International Raceway. A personal ice bath, beach towel, and floaties (for safety’s sake, of course) mean he’s the coolest driver on track!
TRG has a remarkable history at VIR in Porsche, Pontiac, and Aston Martin. Andy Lally and Marc Bunting led the team to a historic Pontiac 1-2 finish in the 2006 Grand-Am VIR 400. In 2008, the Porsche driven by Spencer Pumpelly and Tim George finished in 2nd in GT. In 2010, the team was victorious in GT with Andy Lally and Ted Ballou and again in 2012 in GTC with Damien Faulkner and Ben Keating. Most recently, in 2014, TRG-AMR drivers Kris Wilson and Max Riddle won the Continental Tire SportsCar Championship race in their Aston Martin V8 Vantage, and in 2015 Christina Nielsen and Kuno Wittmer finished 2nd in GTD to take the championship lead for the hotly contested IMSA class.

“Its great to be back with Lamborghini at one of our favorite road racing circuits in North America,” said Kevin Buckler, CEO. “We’re back with Joel and are welcoming JJ to the team as well. Joel is amazing and starting to really get the hang of this beast and the competitive GT racing. We all really enjoy racing at VIR and admire the work that Connie Nyholm and her staff have done to maintain it as a premier facility. We have an incredible history here over the years and plan on adding to that history this weekend.”

This weekend’s event is comprised of two 50-minute races at VIR. Race #1 is at 10:45 a.m. (ET) on Saturday, Aug. 27. Race #2 will start at 9:50 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 28. There will be two practice sessions on Friday, followed by a double qualifying session starting at 5:50 p.m.

Both races will be live-streamed at MotorTrendOnDemand.com and squadracorse.lamborghini.com/live-streaming.
