TRG Porsche’s Steve Miller took his No. 07 James S. Farrell/COLO Logistics Cayman GT4 Clubsport to 2nd place at Sonoma Raceway over the weekend. A near photo-finish with a very skilled competitor, Kevin Woods, secured his place on the podium after a multi-lap battle to retain his runner-up position.
The seasoned driver posted some of the fastest practice times in the Silver class in the Pirelli Porsche GT3 Cup Trophy USA sessions. After qualifying in 4th place, he and Woods were the cars to watch as Miller implemented finely-tuned racecraft to stay just .2 seconds in the lead through the last laps of the race. Woods did his best to overtake at the last second, but Miller kept his Porsche just out of reach, resulting in a thrilling finish.
The following day’s race saw Miller again qualify in 4th. The field of Porsches was spread out along the 2.5-mile course, and he maintained his qualifying position throughout Sunday’s race. TRG Porsche is next racing at the final two Pirelli GT3 Cup races of the 2016 season: Austin, Texas, September 23rd-25th.
