Look for TRG to pull out all the stops this weekend in an effort to return to Victory Lane."This is going to be a really big weekend for RJ and I'd love it if he and Bryan Sellers were able to get the No. 68 Porsche to Victory Lane in the first race at Thunderbolt Raceway," said TRG owner Kevin Buckler. "That being said, I'd be ecstatic if we can win with any one of our Porsches. With this being a new facility, it's somewhat difficult to know what we can expect from the race. With RJ on our team, however, I'd like to think we have a little bit of a 'home field' advantage."

TRG Expands To 3 Cars for KONI Challenge Race in New Jersey

For the first time since the 2008 Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series season-opener at Daytona International Speedway in January, TRG will field three Porsches in Sunday's inaugural KONI Challenge Series race at New Jersey Motorsports Park's Thunderbolt Raceway. Co-drivers Duncan Ende and Spencer Pumpelly will share the No. 39 Carlsen Porsche/The DigiTrust Group/Adam's Polishes/Fox River Coffee Porsche 997 as they have done throughout the 2008 KONI Challenge season. Full-time TRG driver Scott Schroeder will co-drive the No. 41 Carlsen Porsche/Cohen Financial/Wolf-Tec Inc./www.WTInc.com/Ludwig-Motorsports Porsche with Peter Ludwig for the sixth time this season, while TRG Rolex Series driver Bryan Sellers will share the No. 40 Carlsen Porsche/TRG Porsche 997 with co-driver Bryan Silas. All three cars will compete in the Grand Sport (GS) class. "This is shaping up to be a great weekend for us," said TRG team manager Jason Myers. "The guys have been working hard getting the cars up to 110 percent and the drivers are well prepared. It's a great facility with a great track layout. Lots of high speed 'flat out' sections as well as some good technical corners and elevation changes thrown in. It's got a great track surface and it gets a little skinny in places - it should be an interesting and fun race! After our bad luck at Trois-Rivieres, everyone is ready to bounce back and have an Iowa repeat, but this time with a 1-2-3 finish!" Schroeder is the only driver in this weekend's TRG driver lineup to visit Victory Lane in the KONI Challenge Series this year, as he co-drove to a victory at Iowa Speedway earlier this month with Andy Lally. Schroeder ranks fourth in the GS class with 49 laps led and is currently 13th in the GS driver standings with 133 points. He has finished inside the top 10 in three of his seven starts this season.

Schroeder and Lally Bring KONI Challenge Victory to TRG in Iowa

It was a dream Sunday at Iowa Speedway for TRG and No. 41 Carlsen Porsche/Cohen Financial Porsche 997 co-drivers Scott Schroeder and Andy Lally, as Schroeder opened the day with his first career Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series pole position and left the track later that evening with his first victory trophy as he and Lally combined to take the victory in the Casey's General Stores Race. Schroeder-who broke the KONI Challenge track record in qualifying with a lap at 49.302 seconds (94.925 mph)-took full advantage of his pole position and led the first 49 laps of the race before pitting to turn the car over to Lally. The three-time Grand-Am Rolex Series champion would lead three different times for 61 laps and came out on top in a battle with his TRG Rolex Series teammate Craig Stanton and sports car ace Bill Auberlen to bring TRG its second victory in KONI Challenge competition and the team's first since Lally combined with Ted Ballou to win at Barber Motorsports Park last year. "Coming into the race, my goal was to keep the lead," Schroeder said. "Joe Foster raced me really clean on the start and I managed to maintain my lead. Around the 45-minute mark, I pitted to hand the car over to Andy. From there, Andy did a great job setting fast laps while conserving gas. Andy had a great race with Stanton in the closing stages of the race but managed to keep the lead all the way to the checkered flag. Big thanks to all the TRG guys. They work extremely hard and they definitely deserve this one."

TRG Team Kicks Off Second Half of 2008 KONI Challenge Series

Although the calendar has now flipped to August, the 2008 Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series is just kicking off the second half of its 10-race season this weekend at Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa and TRG will be there with a strong pair of entries. Continuing their full-season campaign in the team's No. 39 Carlsen Porsche/The DigiTrust Group/Adam's Polishes/Fox River Coffee Porsche 997, will be co-drivers Duncan Ende and Spencer Pumpelly. For the first time since the season-opening race at Daytona in January, Scott Schroeder will be paired with co-driver Andy Lally in the No. 41 Carlsen Porsche/Cohen Financial entry. Both cars will compete in the Grand Sport (GS) class. Pumpelly and Ende head into the weekend in Iowa tied for ninth in the GS point standings with 99 points apiece and with plenty of time to make a run at the title. The duo finished three of the first five races of the season inside the top 10, with a best run of second coming in Round 2 at Lime Rock Park in May. It will be Pumpelly's first KONI Challenge start at Iowa, while Ende is making his second series appearance at the venue, albeit he will be looking to improve significantly this time around. Last year, Ende retired from the race after just 13 laps and was credited with a 31st-place result. "Iowa will be a challenging race with 50 cars on the track," said Pumpelly. "We will need to be very conservative right until the end to make sure we can race the closing laps. TRG has been giving us great cars so hopefully Duncan and I can ease through the ST traffic and on to a win." Schroeder and Lally, meanwhile, have been reunited for the first time since they finished eighth together in the season-opening Fresh From Florida 200 at Daytona International Speedway in January. Since then, Schroeder has shared the No. 41 Porsche with Peter Ludwig and has finished inside the top 10 in two of his five starts this season and is tied with Andrew Davis for 17th in the GS championship with 86 points. Schroeder's best result of the season was his eighth-place performance at Daytona, and he also finished ninth alongside Ludwig last time out at Barber Motorsports Park.

TRG Places Two Porsches in Top 10 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve

TRG came into the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 Montreal 200 as the defending GT race champions, and for most of the race, it appeared the team had a good shot at repeating the performance. Unfortunately, the racing gods had other ideas and TRG's Porsches were forced to pit lane in the closing minutes of the two-hour timed event, denying them a shot a victory. However, the late pit stops did enable two of the four TRG entries to come home with top-10 results. "We had a great run," said TRG owner Kevin Buckler. "We tried to stretch that fuel as much as we could, and no matter what we would have done, we would have had to come in. It would have been a throwaway. We were hoping for a yellow or anything to slow the field down. It didn't happen, that's the way it goes. We had to come in for fuel, but we had two cars in the top 10 and no accidents. It was a good weekend, but we would have liked to finish better." Topping the charts for the team was the No. 67 Johnny Love Vodka/TRG Porsche GT3 of co-drivers Tim George Jr. and Andy Lally. George drove the opening stint and turned the No. 67 machine over to Lally in 10th at the 45-minute mark in the race. Lally then worked his way up through the remaining hour and 15 minutes, and was poised for a top-five result. However, the three-time Rolex Series champion was forced to pit lane with about one minute left in the race and he brought the No. 67 machine home in sixth place. It was the team's eighth top-10 result in 11 races and allowed George to continue leading the MESCO Building for the Future Rookie of the Year championship with two races still remaining on the schedule. It was also Lally's fourth consecutive top 10 and his fifth in six races this year, while it was the third straight top-10 run for George and his eighth top 10 of the year overall.

Impressive Qualifying Effort by TRG in Montreal

In qualifying for this evening's Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 Montreal 200 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, all four TRG Porsches turned in solid performances as the team looks to repeat its GT victory from a year ago in Montreal. "Everybody did a great job with a little bit of track time," said TRG owner Kevin Buckler. "There was not a lot of track time for a couple of the guys yesterday with a few issues, but all four cars are solidly in the show. We won it last year and we've got all of our starting and finishing driver lineups like we normally do. We should have a good shot at this. I'm looking forward to it." Leading the way for TRG was MESCO Building for the Future Rookie of the Year leader Tim George Jr. in the No. 67 TRG Porsche GT3. George placed the No. 67 machine ninth on the GT grid with a best lap at 1:45.079 (92.810 mph). It was George's third top-10 qualifying performance in the last four Rolex Series qualifying sessions and puts him and co-driver Andy Lally in good position to challenge for their first victory of the season. Starting 12th will be Ted Ballou with a lap at 1:45.466 (92.469 mph) in the No. 66 Mitchell Rubber Porsche GT3. Ballou is looking for his fourth consecutive top-five race result in this evening's Montreal 200, and he is making his second straight start with co-driver Spencer Pumpelly. In qualifying for his first race on home soil, Canadian racer Hima Maher placed the No. 65 Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing/Total R Insulation Solutions Porsche GT3 for TRG/Riegel Autosport 16th on the starting grid with a lap at 1:47.252 (90.929 mph). Maher, who hails from Calgary, Alberta, is sharing the No. 65 machine with 2005 Rolex Series GT champion Craig Stanton.

TRG Looks to Defend Montreal Victory with Four-Car Assault

The Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 makes its lone visit north of the border this weekend, and it's a welcome trip for TRG as the team looks for its first victory of the 2008 season. TRG took the GT victory in last year's inaugural Rolex Series visit to Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, with Andy Lally and RJ Valentine charging through the field in the team's No. 66 Porsche. This year, Lally, Valentine, and the No. 66 machine are all part of a four-car entry from TRG. "Montreal is one of the most prestigious tracks we go to with Grand-Am, and it was an honor for our team to win the first Rolex Series race there last year," said TRG owner Kevin Buckler. "Andy and RJ did an outstanding job, as did the whole team, so we've already proven we know how to win there. It's our job now to do it again this weekend." Lally will be paired once again with MESCO Building for the Future Rookie of the Year leader Tim George Jr. in the No. 67 TRG Porsche GT3. In their first start together two weeks ago at Barber Motorsports Park, Lally and George earned a podium result with a third-place run. It was the No. 67 team's fifth podium in 10 races and that impressive record has allowed George to extend his lead in the Rookie of the Year standings. It was also the fourth top-five performance in six Rolex Series starts for Lally and his second podium of the season.

TRG's George and Lally Finish Third in Porsche 250

TRG teammates Tim George Jr. and Andy Lally made a late race charge to secure a solid third place performance in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series Porsche 250 presented by Bradley Arant at Barber Motorsports Park. Ted Ballou and Spencer Pumpelly just missed the podium and finished fifth. George started eighth in the No. 67 Johnny Love Vodka/944 Magazine/Gleukos Porsche GT3 Cup and drove consistent lap times early in the race to have the car just outside of the top-five by lap 21. On lap 27, George brought the No. 67 Porsche to pit lane for tires, fuel, and to put co-driver Andy Lally in the car. Lally won the GT race in both 2004 and 2006. "It went pretty well," George said following his stint. "The car lost a little bit of grip. We have some new tire fans we are working on and they kept the back tires pretty cool for most of the stint. I did the best I could in traffic. The DP cars were making some passes in some horrendous places. I think the meeting we had earlier today regarding class-to-class contact helped a little bit. I noticed the DP cars were being a little more respectful out there today." Lally proved to be quite the competitor today driving solidly for almost two stints in nearly 100 degree heat. Not only did Lally persevere through the heat early on in his stint, but he tried to apply some heat of his own late in the race and passed the No. 57 Stevenson Motorsports Pontiac on the last lap. Almost simultaneously, however, he got passed by Dirk Werner. Lally and Werner engaged in battle for the rest of the lap right to the checkered flag. "TRG gave us a real good car this weekend," Lally said on his way to the podium. "We knew the Pontiac and Mazdas were going to be strong. Dirk and I have had another epic battle for the finish here. Last year, I passed him on the last lap and this year he passed me on the last lap. It is fun. It was good racing. We were racing each other hard, blocking, late braking and cutting each other off. It is what it is. At the end of the day, we get out and shake hands. We will race each other almost dirty, but I love it like that. It is not fun unless it is a knock down drag out dog fight. We came home on the podium and that extends Tim's lead on the rookie points. It was a good day for TRG."

Ludwig and Schroeder give TRG top-10 finish in Koni Challenge

TRG drivers Peter Ludwig and Scott Schroeder finished ninth in today's Grand-Am Koni Challenge round six race at Barber Motorsports Park, as part of the Porsche 250 presented by Bradley Arant weekend. Duncan Ende and Spencer Pumpelly finished 13th. Ludwig started today's race from the inside of row nine in the No. 41 Carlsen Porsche/Cohen Financial/Wolf-Tec Inc./www.WTInc.com/Ludwig-Motorsports Porsche 997. Early in the stint, Ludwig made an unscheduled pit stop to change a flat tire that was the result of contact with another car. Undaunted by the early set back, Ludwig continued to push and had the car as high as ninth when he came to pit lane for his final green flag pit stop. On lap 44, Ludwig brought the No. 41 machine to pit lane for four new Hoosier tires, a load of fuel, and put Schroeder in the car. After the green flag pit stops cycled through, Schroeder started his 45-lap stint in 16th. Throughout his stint, he continued to turn consistently fast laps on pace with the race leaders. In fact, he turned TRG's fastest race lap with a 1:39.783 (80.317 mph) and this helped him climb through the field to finish ninth. Ludwig and Schroeder had the top finishing Porsche in the race. "The start was uneventful," Ludwig said. "I passed a few cars and I went into five and a car turned down on me and broke a valve stem causing a flat. I had to pit. The team refueled and put on new tires. We stayed out longer than we anticipated with no yellows. I was able to regain some of the positions I had lost. I had a good time." "Peter got out of the car, and the crew did a great job getting us back out without losing a lap," Schroeder said. "I got in the car with the sticker tires and I was able to maintain pace with the leaders. About 45-minutes into my stint, my rear tires were getting way too hot, so had to turned it down a notch. I thought I had something for the 91 car at the end, but I just didn't have the brakes to get it done. The TRG crew had some setbacks this weekend, but a top-10 is definitely something to be proud of today."

TRG Returns to Barber Motorsports as Defending Race Champions

TRG returns to the site of its first Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series victory to date and will bring a two-car assault as the team attempts to defend its title in Saturday's Grand-Am KONI Challenge Grand Sport (GS) 250-mile race at Barber Motorsports Park. Last year, current TRG Rolex Sports Car Series drivers Ted Ballou and Andy Lally claimed the KONI Challenge triumph in the No. 41 TRG Porsche 997. This year, Scott Schroeder and Peter Ludwig will look to repeat the feat in the No. 41 Carlsen Porsche/Cohen Financial/Wolf-Tec Inc./www.WTInc.com/Ludwig-Motorsports Porsche 997, while Spencer Pumpelly and Duncan Ende will be doing their best to drive the No. 39 Carlsen Porsche/The DigiTrust Group/Adam's Polishes/Fox River Coffee Porsche 997 to its maiden Victory Lane visit in Alabama. "The drivers are ready to conquer Barber again" said TRG team manager Jason Myers. "Last year we had an incredibly well-deserved victory, and I foresee history repeating for 2008. Both of our cars have strong driver lineups, the best engineering support possible and, of course, the most thorough and meticulous mechanics. We are coming to Barber for one reason: to win." Ende and Pumpelly head to Barber Motorsports Park riding a streak of three consecutive top-10 results and are currently tied for 10th in the KONI Challenge GS driver standings. The duo owns a best result of second at Lime Rock Park. Beginning with this weekend's Porsche 250 presented by Bradley Arant and continuing for the remainder of the 2008 Rolex Series season, three-time Rolex Series champion Andy Lally will share the No. 67 TRG Porsche GT3 with Tim George Jr., while Spencer Pumpelly-who drove alongside George in the No. 67 TRG Porsche for the first nine races of the season-will now co-drive the No. 66 Mitchell Rubber Porsche GT3 with Ted Ballou. "We have plenty of good reasons for making the switch and I think it makes a lot of sense," said TRG owner Kevin Buckler. "Tim will be moving to our stock car team next year with Andy, and both of them will be working together on that program and joint sponsorship, so it just made sense for them to also work and develop together in the Rolex Series this year. Likewise, Spencer and Ted are already working on plans to race together next year, so I think it's a win-win for everybody involved to make the change. It will be fun to see how it shakes out." The No. 66 and No. 67 teams will join two additional TRG Porsche entries this weekend. Once again sharing the No. 65 Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing/Total-R Insulation Solutions Porsche GT3 for TRG/Riegel Autosport will be Canadian racer Hima Maher and 2005 Rolex Series GT champion Craig Stanton, while Josemanuel Gutierrez and John Potter will complete the lineup in the No. 68 TRG Porsche GT3.

Ende and Pumpelly Take Third Straight Top-10 Result

For the third consecutive race in the 2008 Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series, teammates Duncan Ende and Spencer Pumpelly brought home a top-10 result, this time with a seventh-place performance in Saturday's race at Watkins Glen International. Meanwhile, Peter Ludwig and Scott Schroeder came home 24th from the two-and-a-half hour event in the No. 41 Cohen Financial/Wolf-Tec Inc./www.WTInc.com/Ludwig-Motorsports Porsche 997 due to an accident. Both cars competed in the Grand Sport (GS) class. The result for Ende and Pumpelly was not without adventure. The duo was forced to switch from the team's No. 39 machine to the No. 40 The DigiTrust Group/Adam's Polishes/Fox River Coffee/Sherab-Khandro.com Porsche 997 when the No. 39 was damaged in a crash during Thursday's test day at The Glen. "The entire GS crew deserves an award for the performance they gave this weekend," said TRG team manager Jason Myers. "During the first test day, we had a car get severely damaged in a crash and the crew had to perform a chassis swap. The entire crew worked around the clock to get the car put together, and it was out in time for the very next practice session. I have never been more proud of my team." Ende placed the No. 40 machine 16th on the starting grid and drove a clean opening stint before turning the car over to Pumpelly for the finish. As is his custom, Pumpelly gained several positions on course and was in position for a top-five result before a flat tire on the final lap relegated him to seventh at the finish.

Three inside the Top 10 for TRG

The Porsche GT3 has traditionally been at its strongest at Daytona International Speedway, which TRG hoped would continue to be the case in Thursday night's Brumos Porsche 250. However, while Andy Lally and Ted Ballou finished fifth in the No. 66 Mitchell Rubber Porsche GT3 and three TRG Porsches earned top-10 results in the GT class, team owner Kevin Buckler and the rest of the team came away somewhat disappointed. "We had three cars in the top 10 and our guys did a great job, but I'm a little disappointed," Buckler said. "I'm not having a lot of fun running here in Grand-Am right now. It was just a Mazda parade tonight again. I've never seen so many awesome lap times with the two Mazdas at the front of the field. They need to get the rules right, because you're seeing the fields diminish and that is truly a shame and will really hurt everyone. We are trying to be patient but we need parity between the marques NOW. Done right, this is a great place to race but right now it is not right. This used to be THE Porsche track. What's left for Porsche?" Lally and Ballou were the second highest teammates among the Porsche drivers and the No. 66 was the first car to finish one lap down to the race-winning No. 70 Mazda. Ballou started the car 12th in class and kept the car in the hunt throughout his stint before turning the car over to Lally. The timing of yellow flags ultimately dropped the No. 66 machine off the lead lap, but Lally persevered for a top-five result. TRG will field a total of four cars in Thursday night's race under the lights in Daytona and will be looking for its first victory of the 2008 season. "Daytona is clearly the most important track on the Rolex Series schedule and also the one where I feel we have our best chance for success," said TRG owner Kevin Buckler. "Our team has always run well there and it has historically been a 'Porsche friendly' circuit, so I expect we'll definitely be in the mix for the victory. We've got four stellar driver lineups and four great cars." TRG's two full-time entries are both inside the top 10 in the Rolex Series GT class point standings and will be looking to improve their respective positions on Thursday night. The team's No. 67 TRG Porsche GT3 is currently fourth in the team standings and will once again feature co-drivers Tim George Jr. and Spencer Pumpelly. The No. 67 team has had a rough go of it for the last few races, but George and Pumpelly were integral parts of the team's third-place performance in the Rolex 24 and could get their season back on track in the Brumos Porsche 250. With 188 points, George currently leads the MESCO Building for the Future Rookie of the Year Award. He is six points ahead of second-place Lawson Aschenbach and 11 markers in front of TRG teammate Ted Ballou, in addition to leading former Formula 1 driver Ricardo Zonta and ex-NASCAR racer Bill Lester among others. George and Ballou are also second and third, respectively, in the Bob Akin Award standings for the top sportsman driver in the GT class.

TRG KONI Challenge Series Drivers Carrying Momentum to Watkins Glen

The four drivers in TRG's two Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series Porsches head to Watkins Glen International for Saturday's Watkins Glen Grand Prix carrying plenty of momentum. Coming into the fourth round of the 10-race championship this weekend, No. 39 The DigiTrust Group/Adam's Polishes/Fox River Coffee Porsche 997 co-drivers Duncan Ende and Spencer Pumpelly have finished inside the top-six positions in each of their last two KONI Challenge Series starts, while the No. 41 Cohen Financial/Wolf-Tec Inc./www.WTInc.com/Ludwig-Motorsports Porsche 997 that will be co-driven by Scott Schroeder and Peter Ludwig has finished 16th or better in all three races thus far in 2008. Both cars compete in the Grand Sport (GS) class. "On every track this year there has been a TRG GS Porsche challenging for the front, but our straightline speed is a little down to the higher horsepower cars so we make it up in a variety of other areas" said TRG Team Manager Jason Myers. "Our program is solid and a great place for development drivers and veterans alike. The team never misses a beat. We have multiple drivers looking to get into one of our GS cars, but for the time being we've decided to remain a two-car effort. This allows us to focus more of our collective energies on the core of the team, but don't worry, we'll be expanding soon!" Ende and Pumpelly finished sixth in the most recent KONI Challenge race at Mosport and have already earned one podium result on the season with a second-place run in Round 2 at Lime Rock Park in May. The teammates also saw a potential victory get away in the season-opening round at Daytona within the last half hour of the race when a mechanical failure ended their day just after Pumpelly took the lead. They are currently tied for seventh in the KONI Challenge point standings with the No. 41 team and head to Watkins Glen International in search of their first victory as teammates.
